After a break, Spotify re-adds third-party DJ apps

New Delhi: After pulling support for the third-party DJ applications, Spotify Premium subscribers can now once again log in and start streaming their playlists and queueing up requests directly from the Mac and Windows versions of Algoriddim’s popular djay software, as well as rekordbox and Serato. Right now, the Spotify integration is only available on the desktop applications, and neither Spotify nor Algoriddim has considered the possibility of the feature coming to the mobile applications. At their local community streaming radio station, back in 2020, Spotify unceremoniously decided to kill off that integration, reportedly due to licensing issues.

The company’s Terms of Service expressly forbid the mixing of Spotify songs; they guess those roadblocks have been sorted out, though, because Spotify is back in the djay application. The partnership between Spotify and Algoriddim was once the popular choice among DJs, leading to the end of this collaboration. The renewed partnership between Spotify and Algoriddim is a boon for the users of the free version of the djay application.

While the Pro subscription offers additional features like hardware integration and effects, even free users can now enjoy Spotify’s extensive music library on their DJing software. This development comes after Algoriddim has previously integrated with Tidal, SoundCloud, and Apple Music in the years since Spotify’s withdrawal.
