New Delhi: YouTube Music has started releasing its 2025 Recap, giving listeners a personalised look at their year in music. This latest feature is aimed at anyone who wants a clear breakdown of their listening habits, and it arrives ahead of the Spotify Wrapped 2025. This year’s YouTube Music Recap now uses the Gemini to answer any of the questions about their own music trends, by offering both simple summaries and playful explanations. This year’s Recap adds more detailed insights and the latest ways to explore users’ patterns. Once it’s available, YouTube Music will highlight users’ top tracks, artists, genres, and podcasts.
It also builds a personalised playlist of users’ most played songs, which users can save to their library. The Google Photos link-up is the standout addition; it turns users’ listening data and personal memories into ready-to-share cards, which could help Recap gain more visibility on the social feeds. Google has also released the 2025 Recap ahead of Spotify Wrapped, which usually lands in early December. Spotify’s 2024 edition included top artists, songs, minutes listened, an expanded genre breakdown and personality-style badges. YouTube Music reaching users first this year may help it grab attention before the busiest period for year-end music summaries.
Year-end recaps have become a key engagement tool for streaming platforms; they prompt users to revisit old favourites, reshare playlists and spend more time in the applications. Google is also pushing the Recap earlier and tying to it, Gemini shows the company’s broader strategy of putting AI at the centre of the user-facing features across its ecosystem. This latest unveils interactive summaries and Google Photos tie-ins hint at how future recaps could become more visual and more personalised.
