New Delhi: According to Forbes, there are 140 billionaires in India who come from diverse backgrounds and make contributions to a range of industries. Among them all, Ramesh Babu, a self-made billionaire, sticks out to his profession; at first glance, it’s difficult to imagine what he does for a living.

Ramesh Babu, who has become well-known, was not always wealthy, from selling newspapers to sleeping hungry in the streets. He worked hard and was determined to succeed.

Anyone who has an easy life needs to consider themselves blessed; many individuals in India are unaware of what it’s like to live in poverty.

Bengaluru’s “Billionaire Barber”, Ramesh Babu, was raised in poverty. In Bengaluru, his father worked as a barber and used to operate a little shabby barbershop in Bengaluru’s Bridge Road. At the age of 7, when he was informed his father, P. Gopal, passed away due to a catastrophic heart attack, he was in the second grade and doing his midterm examinations. Her mother had to work as a servant in order to help feed and provide a good life for her children; it was a difficult day. She made about ₹40–50 a month, which she used to utilise for all expenses, clothes, books, fees, and everything else.

Ramesh Babu’s family often lacked the funds to purchase wholesome food, leaving them starving. Then, in the 1990s, Ramesh Babu made the decision to take over his father’s store after his tenth class rather than pursue further. The salon, named “Inner Space,” was located in a mall close to the school he attended. It quickly evolved into a trendy fashion saloon. He assumed he would keep the vehicle for his initial personal use, so he applied for a car loan from the only bank that offered them at the time, which was the Karnataka State Finance Corporation.

The EMI was around ₹ 6,800, and he was aware that he might make ten thousand or twenty thousand a month working as a barber.

To build his company, Ramesh took a number of steps to extend his business. In 1994, Ramesh started his own car rental company and bought a Maruti Omni Van with the money he had saved up from his barbershop and took the loan.

His car rental company expanded rapidly, and he achieved great success. Ramesh eventually accumulated a bigger fleet of vehicles, which included 400 additional high-end models, like the Mercedes E Class Sedan, BMW, Rolls Royce Ghost, Jaguar, and Mercedes Maybach.

For almost Rs 3 crore, Ramesh Babu purchased a Rolls Royce Ghost along with a number of high-end sedans from BMW, Jaguar, and Bentley. Ramesh Babu made waves in 2017 when he bought a Rs 2.6 crore Maybach S600.

According to Ramesh Babu, sports stars like Sachin Tendulkar and well-known actors like Amitabh Bachchan, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, and Aamir Khan have used their car services.

Ramesh Babu never forgot where he came from. Because of this, he has consistently remained solidly established and grounded while preserving the relationship he has built with his clients. Even though he is a billionaire, he still spends a lot of time at his salon and gives each client individualised styling. Ramesh Babu’s inner barber will always be there.
