Adeera Packaging, one of India’s largest manufacturers of sustainable packaging, an industry founded by Sushant Gaur, Atulya Bhatia and Ashish Agarwal in 2019. Adeera Packaging was formed as a manufacturing company, but over the years, the team realized that its value lies in the service they provide to its buyers. Adeera Packaging has set up five factories in Greater Noida and a warehouse in Delhi and aims to scale up manufacturing by setting up a unit in the US by 2024. Adeera Packaging aims to make the planet a better place for future generations which they want to achieve by creating a global presence to democratize supplies of environment-friendly packaging.

  • Replaced around 20 plastic bags per second with environment-friendly packaging
  • provide daily deliveries, fast turnaround times of 5-25 days
  • customization of bags to its customers
  • deliver the product to over 30,000 pin codes in India

Paper bag manufacturing is still a cottage industry, unstandardized and unorganized. Adeera brought out standardization in sizes and selling methodologies. The company was the industry-first in terms of using digital medium to create awareness about paper bags. To this date, Adeera’s youtube channel is the only paper bag-selling channel on the internet. Access to technology-related information was limited. Creating and building a network of machines and suppliers who can support the company’s endeavor was also challenging, but now these all have become Adeera’s strength. All paper bags of Adeera’s are made from recycled paper. It replaces around 20 plastic bags per second with environment-friendly packaging and saves 17,000 trees per month from being chopped by using recycled & agro-waste-based paper. There is enough demand in the market, but the market is lacking in supplies and solutions that can help navigate through the SUP ban. The company is contributing towards a sustainable environment with an effective solution of manufacturing plastic-free paper bags. These bags are made from resources that cause no harm to the environment during the manufacturing process.

‘During pandemic, paper packaging business had a significant boost due to increased demand for home-delivered meals, groceries, and pharmaceuticals’, said Ashish Agarwal. “And the demand for takeaway packing increased manifold. People are buying a lot more groceries at home since they no longer want to travel for food. During the pandemic, the paper packaging business had a significant boost. The pandemic enables e-commerce as mainstream. The change in consumer behavior to order everything from the comfort of the house has spawned new industries like quick commerce (10-minute delivery). The concept of cloud kitchens is well known, and new-age brands are getting into it. All this has led to an increase in the demand for paper packaging”, he added.

Future plan: The sustainable packaging problem is a global issue; Adeera believes this industry is ripe for disruption. Currently, all its 5 manufacturing units are based in Delhi-NCR. As export demand is increasing, the team wants to set up a manufacturing unit near the port on the West Coast as well as are targeting to set up a manufacturing unit in the USA. The company is in the advanced stages and expects the US and port facilities to be operational in 2024. As we all know, the sky is the limit; Adeera also aims to be India’s first true Paper Packaging MNC.
