New Delhi: Rajan Eye Care Hospital unveils the latest AI-based eye correction technology to mark World Sight Day. The technology, called the WaveLight Plus InnovEyes, is used to improve vision by using an advanced diagnostic system that gathers over 100,000 data points from the patient’s optical system. This information helps to create a detailed 3D model of the eye, which is then analysed using Artificial Intelligence. The AI guides the treatment process to ensure accurate correction for conditions like myopia, hypermetropia, and astigmatism. It also accounts for the individual variations in the eye, providing a customised treatment plan.
The technology, developed by Alcon, was unveiled at the hospital by the actor Vinay Rai. Mohan Rajan, Chairman and Medical Director of Rajan Eye Care Hospital, and Sujatha Mohan, Executive Medical Director, Rajan Eye Care Hospital, explained how the system creates a digital twin of the eye, allowing it to generate a tailored ablation pattern to correct visual impairments.
This approach considers data from the retina to the cornea, making it more precise than traditional methods, they have stated. Dr Mohan Rajan highlighted the importance of regular eye check-ups, especially for people with conditions like diabetes that can impact vision. They have also addressed the growing issue of myopia, particularly among children, urging parents to be mindful of excessive screen time. From our side, this is a great thing they have introduced.
