Surat: Electric vehicles are fast becoming a popular mode of transportation in India, as people increasingly recognize the benefits of these vehicles, such as their lower carbon footprint and reduced operating costs. However, one major issue that has been hindering their widespread adoption is the time it takes to recharge their batteries. In most cases, electric vehicles need to be plugged in for extended periods, which can be inconvenient for drivers who need to use their vehicles for work or other purposes.
This is where the Surat-based startup Vani Moto Pvt Ltd comes in. The company, which sells electric rickshaws and tempos under the brand name “Zoomroo,” has opened Gujarat’s first battery swapping center, called “Mobilus Next.” The center allows drivers of electric rickshaws and tempos to easily swap their batteries without having to wait for them to charge, making it a game-changer for the electric vehicle industry.
At Mobilus Next, the batteries of Zoomroo rickshaws and tempos can be swapped for fully charged ones, saving drivers the time and hassle of having to recharge their batteries themselves. The process is quick and efficient, taking less time than it would take to fill up a vehicle with CNG or petrol at a filling station. Once the battery is swapped, the driver can immediately resume their work or other activities, without worrying about the range of their electric vehicle.
Jenish Shah, the founder of Vani Moto Pvt Ltd, believes that the electrification of transportation is an important issue for India, but the time required to recharge electric vehicle batteries is a significant concern. He notes that Vani Moto’s mission is to eliminate the hassle of charging batteries for owners of electric rickshaws and tempos, and he believes that the battery swapping center is a step in the right direction.
Vani Moto plans to open four more battery swapping centers across Surat in the coming months, which will further improve the convenience and accessibility of electric vehicles for drivers in the region. With initiatives like these, it’s clear that the electric vehicle industry in India is set to grow rapidly in the years to come, as more and more people recognize the benefits of sustainable transportation.
