Gujarat Tops India’s Startup Ecosystem Rankings for 5th Straight Year

Ahmedabad: Gujarat has itched a history by becoming the best performing state in terms of startup ecosystem for budding entrepreneurs. The report was recently published by the Department of Promotions of Industry and Internal trade. 

A strong ecosystem for entrepreneurs in the country is very essential. In this regard, Gujarat, Arunachal Pradesh and Goa have proven to be the best in terms of startup ecosystem for budding entrepreneurs. Budding entrepreneurs are getting the right platform for growth and opportunities in these states. According to the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade, Gujarat has been the best performing state for the fifth consecutive time.

Other top states include Karnataka, Punjab, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh and Himachal Pradesh. This EPM scheme of Rs 25,060 crore approved to increase exports.

Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal said the ministry is working on creating a separate segment for startups under the Export Promotion Mission to open doors of international markets for their products to budding entrepreneurs. The mission worth Rs 25,060 crore has been approved by the UAE to boost exports amid high tariffs.

The ranking is a year-long study conducted by DPIIT to assess the efforts of states and union territories to build an ecosystem for startup growth. 34 states and union territories participated in the exercise.

The framework includes entrepreneurs, aspiring leaders and emerging startup ecosystems. In addition, states and union territories were divided into two groups based on population of 1 crore and below. With strong competition and collaboration among state governments, this framework has created a strong and well-functioning startup ecosystem across the country.

They have been classified under five categories. These include Best Performer, Top Performer, aspiring leaders and emerging startup ecosystems.
