Vaibhav Suryavanshi sets IPL record, scores second fastest century

Jaipur: At just 14 years old, Vaibhav has shown how the IPL has helped nurture talent from a young age. As a substitute in the Rajasthan Royals line-up, Vaibhav partnered with Indian batting star Yashasvi Jaiswal to score an incredible 101 with 11 sixes and 7 fours to win against Gujarat Titans.

Vaibhav has etched his name along with other greats like Chris Gayle, Yusuf Pathan, David Miller and Travis Head who’ve scored centuries in under 40 balls.

Much of the credit goes to the Rajasthan Royal’s selection team, who bought him in the auction as an untested player who now looks like the best investment they’ve ever had. This is a far cry from where some franchises are betting on cricketer’s sons, or buying players to please some high ranking officials. This shows how the IPL helps even the most unassuming person become a star, just as the Rajasthan Royals have celebrated with this post.

“It is a very good feeling. It’s my first hundred in the IPL and it’s my third innings. The result has shown here after the practice before the tournament,” the player of the match, Suryavanshi, said.

“I just see the ball and play. It has been a dream to get a 100 in the IPL, and today, it materialised. There is no fear. I don’t think much, I just focus on playing.”

Here’s how Cricketing legends reacted:
