Gandhinagar: If all goes well, the GIFT city in Gandhinagar will have not one, two or three, but about 20 international-class restaurants to boost the ‘evening life’ and social needs of the youth working in GIFT City. This was announced by Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi was present at the inaugural session of “IFSCA Talent Vista Summit-2026” at GIFT City-Gandhinagar.
Sanghavi stated that more than 20 international-class restaurants will be started in GIFT City in the next one year. In addition, the state government is working seriously on the ‘Working and Living in GIFT City’ model, so that the employees get the best facilities to stay there.
About two decades ago, Prime Minister Narendrabhai Modi had dreamed of this global Fintech City while standing on a barren land. At that time, many intellectuals had rejected it as a ‘day dream’, but today the dream of GIFT City has come true and has emerged on the world map.
Harsh Sanghavi emphasized that GIFT City is now directly competing with international financial centers like Singapore, Dubai, London and New York. The foundation of this success lies in the unified regulatory architecture of IFSCA, attractive tax structure and India’s digital financial strength.
He said that to make GIFT City a new-age global financial center, the focus will now have to be focused on creating ‘world class talent’. For this, prestigious universities like IIM-Ahmedabad, MICA, Nirma and National Law University of Gandhinagar and Ahmedabad are preparing a new visionary youth force.
Along with this, universities of other countries established in GIFT City have also joined this work. The government is committed to providing maximum opportunities to these youth through structured internship and placement framework, he added.
The Minister assured the youth of the country and the state that by working in GIFT City, their parents’ dream of working abroad will also come true here, as both global exposure and world-class remuneration are available here.
Encouraging the entrepreneurs, he said that there may be some difference in incentives in Gujarat compared to other states, but there is no other place like Gujarat with political and policy stability. The Gujarat government is always ready to listen to the questions of investors and immediately improve them. Welcoming big companies like Wipro to GIFT City, he said that Gujarat is a land of opportunities and this is the best time to invest here.
On this occasion, Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister, P. K. Mishra said that GIFT City is no longer just a fantasy or an idea, but has become a global financial infrastructure. Financial activities that were taking place abroad for decades are now returning to Indian soil. As a result, India’s capital market has become strong and high-value employment is being created in India. As per the Prime Minister’s vision, GIFT City will become an important bridge to achieve the goal of ‘Developed India’ by 2047.
He further added that in the era of digital economy and artificial intelligence, human resources are the most important asset. Till now, India’s bright youth used to migrate abroad to pursue careers in international finance, but now under the leadership of the Prime Minister, GIFT-IFSC has created new employment opportunities right at home, so that these professionals can pursue world-class careers while staying in India.
On this occasion, GIFT City Chairman Uday Kotak presented an important roadmap to make GIFT City a world-class financial hub. Recalling the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he said that GIFT City will play a crucial role in achieving the goal of ‘Developed India @ 2047’. He described geo-political stability, world-class infrastructure, ease of living and the independent regulatory framework of IFSCA as the main pillars of GIFT City’s success.
