Davos: Adani Group has presented a roadmap for the development of Maharashtra at the 56th annual meeting of the World Economic Forum (WEF). Adani Group has announced a huge investment of $66 billion (₹6 lakh crore). The investment roadmap was formalized in a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed with the Maharashtra government. The group said that this investment will not be limited to the construction sector alone, but will also boost employment, urban development and green energy.
During the WEF meeting in Davos, Adani Group gave information about its investment plans in the coming years. Adani Group’s investments will be focused on sectors such as aviation, clean energy, urban development, digital platforms and advanced manufacturing. They will work beyond wealth creation to create a comprehensive system that can meet future needs.
In Maharashtra, the Adani Group will prioritize the redevelopment of Dharavi, one of the country’s most challenging urban projects.
The plan will transform Asia’s largest slum into a manageable and economically viable area, improving living, working and commercial facilities.
Speaking to mediapersons at Davos, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said that “the state welcomes long-term investors in line with its development priorities, stressing that sustained investments are important to generate employment, develop skills and maintain the momentum of development.
The Adani Group is developing Navi Mumbai as a major development hub. The Navi Mumbai International Airport, which will be operational from December 25, will increase air travel capacity in the Mumbai region as well as boost logistics, hotel industry and commercial development.
Pranav Adani, Director, Adani Enterprises Limited (AEL), said that “the group’s investments in Maharashtra are being planned for the long term. The focus will be on building a future-ready infrastructure platform that supports economic growth, energy transition and digital expansion in the next 7-10 years”.
The new investments will generate employment and long-term benefits for the economy. These investments, which will be phased in over the next 7-10 years, include a 3,000 MW green data center park. In addition, there are plans for an arena district near the airport, coal-fired projects, an 8,700 MW pumped storage power project, and a semiconductor and display fabrication unit.
The new investments will not be limited to just building infrastructure or creating wealth, but will create an ecosystem that creates large-scale employment, is environmentally friendly and enhances India’s influence in the global economy.
