In 2015, Reshma Chhabria Kumar founded HIIH. It’s pronounced as H2H or HtoH and stands for “House to Home”. Whether bought or designed by an Interior Designer, Reshma believes a house is only complete when accessorized. It is a design-led, artisan-Crafted, accessories brand. The range of products reflects a sophisticated mix of Japanese aesthetics with Indian values, materials and intricacy.
Reshma shares what draws her to find a niche as a designpreneur, “The love to create has always been there. The idea that something drawn on paper with a pen/pencil can be converted into a product with beauty and utility has always fascinated me and continues to do so even today. I have been practising Interior design since I was in school. During this period of my practice as an Interior designer, the passion for designing and crafting accessories grew. At the time when we had to accessorize a space, there were very few stores and brands that catered to good quality accessories. Clients had the impression that Indian accessories were, in fact, “too Indian” and would not work for a modern space. They would look at China and Italy for the same. HIIH was born out of the urge to change this very mindset to create an understanding that when given designs, Indian artisans could create world-class quality accessories, she added.
HIIH’s most products are designed in-house, and all products are hand-crafted by artisans across India and Japan. Its accessories are carefully designed and crafted to blend utility, aesthetics and detail. Working with artisans in their space and not having their own factory allows HIIH to work with a wide breadth of materials and skill sets, enables to bring more than 1000 designs to their customers.
When we ask about one thing that connects Reshma most with her brand, she said, “To be able to interpret a client’s imagination and dreams to eventually concretize them, to be able to balance the purpose of functionality with pure beauty and to be able to help create a space that people can enjoy on a regular basis. We believe that every piece in an environment has a purpose and that it must be well-selected and well-crafted. HIIH is the product of a desire, to sum up, those individual pieces that make up the greater picture, the home”.
Future Plans: Hopefully, open a few stores pan India and maybe even create a global footprint sometime in the future. At the creating front, HIIH hopes to add more artisans into its fold and thus bring in a broader range of skills and a wider range to their customers.
