“This job won’t exist in 6 months,” warns Perplexity CEO Aravind Srinivas

New Delhi: Imagine doing in one click what used to take a full week. That’s what AI is doing to jobs right now. Aravind Srinivas, the CEO and co-founder of Perplexity AI, has sent out a strong message, jobs like recruiting and executive assistance may soon become history. Why? Because AI tools can now do those tasks faster, better, and without taking breaks.

One of the most powerful tools he talks about is their new innovation called the Comet browser. It’s not just a search tool, it’s like your personal assistant that doesn’t sleep. From finding candidates and sending emails to updating spreadsheets and even briefing you before meetings, Comet does it all without needing a human boss to guide it.

Who Should Worry?

Srinivas says recruiters are first in line. Traditional recruiting includes finding people, reaching out, fixing interviews, and follow-ups. But AI tools can now do all this automatically.

Next in danger are executive assistants. AI tools like Comet, when connected to emails and calendars, can manage schedules, handle email replies, and even prepare meeting summaries. That means fewer people are needed to do such routine office jobs.

Srinivas gives straight advice to young Indians:
“Stop wasting time on Instagram. Start learning AI tools.”

And honestly, he’s not wrong.

He says those who learn to use AI will have a strong edge in jobs. This isn’t just a guess. It’s already happening. People who know AI tools are already more useful to companies than those who don’t.

As someone who’s also trying to build a future, I feel this advice hits hard. We often think AI is something only engineers need. But the truth is, AI is becoming a must-know skill like English or MS Office.

One of the biggest challenges? AI is evolving every few months. Srinivas warns that those who don’t keep learning will be left behind.

Let’s be honest, most of us don’t like change. But in this case, we don’t have a choice. You either adapt or get replaced.

So, whether you’re in college or already working, reskilling is the only way to stay in the game. AI isn’t waiting for anyone.

While many see AI as a job-killer, Srinivas gives a more balanced view.

He says there are two main ways to win in this AI world:

  1. Become an entrepreneur: use AI to build your own business.
  2. Learn AI deeply: so you can work in companies that are creating the future.

Even global experts agree.
Dario Amodei (Anthropic) says half of entry-level white-collar jobs may disappear in five years.
Geoffrey Hinton, the “godfather of AI”, says jobs that involve basic thinking tasks are at risk.
But Nvidia’s CEO Jensen Huang believes jobs will change, not vanish, and those who adapt will survive.

What can Indian youth do right now?

Here’s the truth: We can’t stop AI. But we can learn how to use it. That’s where we can win.

We need to stop thinking of AI as something “too technical.” Many tools today are super easy to use, even for school students. You just need the curiosity to explore them.

Start with small things:

  • Learn how ChatGPT works
  • Try using tools like Canva, Notion, or Google Gemini
  • Follow AI-focused channels or creators
  • Join free online courses
  • Build your own little projects

And most importantly, use AI in your daily tasks, whether it’s reading, creating, planning, or researching.
