New Delhi: Meet Rajan Singh, an IIT graduate who not only cracked the UPSC exam but also left a successful IPS career after eight years for a new path. An alumnus of IIT-Kanpur, Rajan Singh achieved what many aspire to—becoming both an IITian and an IPS officer.
During his tenure, Rajan Singh was a highly respected IPS officer in Kerala, particularly noted for his role as the Police Commissioner of Thiruvananthapuram. In this position, he managed a force of 3,500 policemen and earned a reputation for his outstanding management skills.
Despite his success in the police force, Singh decided to change careers after eight years. He pursued an MBA from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and then transitioned into the corporate sector, gaining experience with major companies before embracing entrepreneurship.
In 2012, Singh launched Course Brew, a pioneering video-based e-learning platform. Building on this venture, he founded ConceptOwl in 2015, aiming to improve science education for school students and those preparing for competitive exams.
The challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 led Singh to create Habit Strong, a platform focused on habit-based learning. This initiative has since merged with ConceptOwl, positioning itself for continued growth and impact.
Rajan Singh believes that what sets entrepreneurs apart from professionals is their readiness to seize opportunities. Reflecting on his journey, he says, “I didn’t want to look back and regret not taking a risk.”
