New Delhi: Office leasing in India’s top cities has gone down by 6% during the July to September 2025 quarter, according to a report by Knight Frank India. The report said that a total of around 17.8 million square feet of office space was rented during this time across the eight biggest cities.
The fall mainly happened because foreign companies rented fewer offices.
Their aggregate leasing became 5.7 million sq ft as compared to 7.1 million sq ft that is nearly twenty percent decrease.
The largest declines were experienced in cities such as Mumbai, Delhi-NCR and Bengaluru. Office leasing in Mumbai plunged by 27 per cent, and in Delhi-NCR by 15 per cent and Bengaluru by 21%.
However, some cities performed much better. Chennai saw a 9% rise in office leasing, while Kolkata jumped by a huge 190%. Ahmedabad also showed positive growth of around 13% during the same period.
Even with this small fall during the July–September quarter, experts believe that the overall office leasing for the whole year 2025 will hit a new record of around 85 million square feet. This means more companies are still planning to expand their offices in India in the coming months.
