In order to prevent such fire incidents in the markets, the Federation of Surat Trade and Textile Association (FOSTA) has prepared an action plan with the officials of Torrent Power Company, under which action will be taken in the coming days and a reverse audit of the electricity supply will be done in every shop of every market and load extension and other work will be carried out wherever necessary.

FOSTA Secretary Dinesh Kataria said that a meeting was held with the officials of Torrent Power Company in which the issue of recurring fire incidents in the textile markets were discussed. Also, discussions were held on how to prevent the frequent fire incidents in textile markets. In the meeting with Torrent Power’s Bhavik Desai, Dipen Patel, Kartik Chawala and others, some issues have been identified which are responsible for the fire disaster.

Dinesh Kataria said that a joint meeting will be held in the coming days with the management of every market as well as the electricians and license contractors working in the market. A common agenda will be decided in this meeting in which a declaration form will be given to each shopkeeper and trader in which a declaration form will be given to provide information about the capacity of their existing electricity connection and all the electrical equipments installed in their shops like AC, light, fan, cooler, induction stove, iron etc. In this way, the load of each shop will be analyzed by detailing it.
