SGCCI Urges Gujarat Govt to Release Pending Textile Policy Subsidies

Surat: The Southern Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SGCCI) has submitted a representation to the state government urging it to immediately pay the remaining subsidies and incentive amounts due to industrial units under the Gujarat Textile Policy, keeping in mind the ongoing war situation in the Gulf region and the financial year 2025-26 ending in March.

In this regard, SGCCI president Nikhil Madrasi has written a letter to the deputy CM Harsh Sanghavi and Finance minister Kanubhai Desai, requesting them to take necessary action.

The SGCCI has submitted to the state government that the textile industry is acting as the main pillar in the economic development of Surat and the entire South Gujarat and is making a significant contribution to employment creation, exports and industrial development. Considering the various incentives provided under the Gujarat Textile Policy, many textile industrial units have invested in adopting modern technology and increasing production capacity, but due to the current war situation in the Gulf region, the textile industry is facing many challenges. Due to this situation, the international trade environment has deteriorated. Export orders, logistics and market stability are being negatively affected.

Therefore, the Chamber of Commerce has requested the State Government to immediately pay the remaining subsidies and incentive amounts available to industrial units under the Gujarat Textile Policy. Timely payment of these incentives will help the industries in providing the necessary liquidity in the current situation and will help them fulfill their financial obligations.

Madrasi said in his presentation that if the state government takes swift and positive steps in this regard, the confidence of the textile industry will be further strengthened and the important contribution of the textile industry in the economic development of Surat and South Gujarat will continue to be maintained.
