Bhuj: Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) worth Rs 8,500 crore were signed with 334 micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) during the Vibrant Gujarat Regional Conference – Vibrant Kutch District-Level Programme held at Gandhidham on Thursday.
The event was inaugurated by Forest and Environment Minister Arjun Modhwadia at the Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Convention Centre. The programme was organised as part of the state government’s initiative to take the Vibrant Gujarat platform to the district level.
Addressing the gathering, Modhwadia said that despite repeated natural calamities, Kutch has emerged as a major centre of development due to the resilience of its people and consistent government support. He said the district has transformed from a region once affected by water
scarcity and unemployment into an important hub for industry, renewable energy, tourism and logistics.
He noted that Kutch currently handles nearly 40 percent of India’s cargo, and continues to attract investment across sectors. Inviting entrepreneurs to invest in Kutch, the minister identified electronic components, green hydrogen, renewable energy, data centres and the blue economy as key focus areas for future growth.
Referring to India’s journey towards self-reliance, Modhwadia said that the country is preparing to meet emerging challenges in sectors such as semiconductors and advanced electronics. He stressed the need for industries to adopt sustainable practices and urged support for increasing green cover in the region.
Minister of State for Higher and Technical Education Trikambhai Chhanga, who also addressed the programme, said the Vibrant Gujarat initiative, launched during Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s tenure as Chief Minister, has now evolved into a district-level movement. He said improved infrastructure and industrial growth in Kutch have led to employment generation and reverse migration.
Kutch–Morbi MP Vinodbhai Chavda said the district has witnessed rapid industrialisation in sectors such as ports, minerals and chemicals, creating large-scale employment opportunities. He urged young entrepreneurs to align with the Make in India and Local for Vocal initiatives.
The programme was attended by senior officials, industry representatives and entrepreneurs. The Gandhidham Chamber of Commerce participated as event partner, while Deendayal Port Trust was the venue partner.
