New Delhi: PM Modi was greeted by a big and welcoming crowd in Vadodara, Gujarat on Tuesday. He was present at the “NaMo for Viksit Bharat” event and met, interacted with many young people including Gen Z people.
In his presence, many development projects were opened and dedicated and foundation stone was laid for various development projects. These projects are to be aggregated and will cost a total of more than Rs 35000 crore. These involve various sectors, including railways, road transportation, resident building, water resource, urban development, and clean energy.
The biggest highlight of the day was the completion of three important parts of the Western Dedicated Freight Corridor (WDFC). There are three sections covering 326 kilometres of railway track and costing over Rs 20,700 crore. The sections are divided into Sanand (North)-Makarpura, New Umbergaon-New Saphale and New Saphale-JNPT. Now that these sections are up and running, the Western Dedicated Freight Corridor is now fully operational from the starting point to the end point.
A special railway track solely for goods trains. It links the factories and industrial areas directly to the Jawaharlal Nehru Port in Mumbai. This will accelerate the movement of goods for import and export, will decrease transportation cost and will also take care of congestion on the regular railway lines in Mumbai such as freight trains, which will have more space for passenger trains.
PM Modi also flagged off new freight train services and inaugurated a new railway line connecting Jobat to Tanda Road, which will benefit tribal areas in Alirajpur. He also laid the foundation stone for railway projects of the value of approximately Rs 9700 crore, such as a new line between Vadodara and Ratlam, and highway projects of the value of nearly Rs 1780 crore.
PM Modi interacted with the young crowd about India’s transformation in the past decade in the field of infrastructure. He also made a talk on the increasing manufacturing capabilities of the country and said that he wants India to become the AI leader. He took a jibe at the political opponents saying that those who are unhappy with the progress of India would be even more unhappy after seeing the new infrastructure for the railways.
Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel also welcomed the Prime Minister and said that the new projects would provide enhanced connectivity, logistics, housing and water supply facilities in the state.
