New Delhi, September 1: Prime Minister Narendra Modi hit back at the opposition after government data showed India registering a robust 7.8% Gross Domestic Product (GDP) growth rate in the first quarter of FY27 (Q1 FY27). This figure has surpassed the Reserve Bank of India’s (RBI) forecast of 7.0%, showcasing the economic resilience that came with domestic consumption, manufacturing expansion and strong service sector performance.
Hitting back at the opposition, especially Rahul Gandhi, he stated that the country’s progress continues despite the “Jhoot Ki Goonj” (echoes of lies) narrative pushed by opposition leaders, through a selfie-style Instagram reel made in Bishkek, where he is attending the SCO Summit. This is the first time the PM has used Instagram reel to silence critics when he is abroad, in an apparent attempt to connect with his Gen Z audience.

“The world is drowned in war. The world is surrounded by crises. The supply chain is completely disrupted. There has been no stability since the COVID pandemic. Despite that, India is developing very fast,” PM Modi said in his address.
The PM also used the occasion to reiterate his call for Aatmanirbhar Bharat, urging people to embrace ‘swadeshi’ goods by cutting back on overseas travel and avoiding unnecessary gold purchases.
“If possible, we must avoid buying gold unnecessarily. The more we push ‘swadeshi’, the better of a ‘Viksit Bharat [Developed India]’ we can gift our youth when India completes 100 years.” he further added.
