New Delhi, September 23: The National Institute of Siddha (NIS), Chennai, an autonomous institute under the Ministry of Ayush, Government of India, is organising a series of academic and awareness programmes from 18 to 25 September 2026 to mark the 11th Ayurveda Day.
The week-long observance aims to promote awareness about Ayurveda, encourage interdisciplinary learning and strengthen academic knowledge among students, scholars, healthcare professionals and faculty members.
The celebrations commenced on 18 September with a seminar on “Healthy Skin, Stronger Tomorrow – A Skin Expert Seminar”, organised by the Department of Aruvai, Kan, Kaathu, Mooku, Thondai, Pal Matrum Thol Maruthuvam as part of Skin Awareness Month. The programme also marked the inauguration of the 11th Ayurveda Day celebrations at NIS.
On 21 September, faculty members and students of NIS visited the VHS Hospital Campus, Taramani, and the Dr. Achanta Lakshmipathi Regional Ayurveda Research Institute (ALRARI), Chennai, for institutional exposure and academic interaction.
On 22 September, NIS organised a seminar on “Sophisticated Instrumental Approaches to Drug Standardization” at the Yoga Hall, New OPD. Dr. T. Vinodh Kumar, Research Officer (Chemistry), Captain Srinivasa Murthy Central Ayurveda Research Institute (CCRAS), was the Chief Guest.
The programmes included a seminar on “Future Perspectives of Integrative AYUSH Practices” held on 23 September, followed by a seminar on “Unique Concepts of Ayurvedic Principles and Clinical Diagnosis” scheduled for 24 September.
The week-long observance will conclude on 25 September with a hands-on training programme on Ayurvedic Para-Surgical Procedures.
The programmes are being coordinated by faculty members of the Institute with the support of the organising committee. Undergraduate, postgraduate and Ph.D. scholars, along with faculty members, are participating in the scheduled activities.
Through academic sessions, practical demonstrations and institutional collaborations, NIS is promoting greater awareness and academic engagement around Ayurveda and integrative healthcare practices, in alignment with the vision of the Ministry of Ayush, Government of India.
