Since the fire was caused by chemicals, the fire department officials are using a special foam instead of water to douse the flames. As per preliminary reports, no casualties have been reported, even as the workers ran for their lives following the fire.
Controlling the fire is proving to be difficult especially since trucks and tempos loaded with chemicals also caught fire.
Sources say that the fire broke out due to a short circuit.
The police have cordoned off the area, with the fire department working to control the fire as soon as possible.
The factory’s owner, Navalkishore Sharma, told the media that the fire started when a pump was attached to a tanker to empty it and the overall loss could be above one crore rupees.
Further details awaited.
