Ahmedabad: While the impact of the ongoing US-Israeli war with Iran has started to be seen all over the world, the restaurant and roadside eateries using commercial LPG cylinders across Gujarat are hit hard.
According to the Gujarat Hotel and Restaurant Association, the problems of restaurants that do not have piped gas facilities have increased due to the disruption in the supply of commercial gas cylinders. Caterers may also find it difficult to fulfill their orders.
The Gujarat Hotel Restaurant Association and other officials expressed concerns over the short supply of commercial LPG cylinders, which has severely affected the restaurant and hotel sector in Gujarat. However, the state government has given the impression that the supply of commercial cylinders is adequate.
The impact of the ongoing war between Iran and the US-Israel has now started to be seen in Gujarat. In fact, the supply of commercial cylinders has been disrupted in many cities of Gujarat. Which is having a direct impact on hotels, restaurants, caterers and furniture factories.
However, many hotels have closed due to the ban on the supply of commercial cylinders in other states. It is not surprising that such a situation arises in Ahmedabad in just two days. According to hotel operators, no one expected that the supply would stop, so no one kept stock. People used to order and use as needed. So now the hotel operators are in trouble when the supply suddenly stops.
The restaurant business is supplied with the gas through the PNG network. So that the shortage of large restaurants or gas cylinders will not have any effect. But small restaurants and caterers that run on commercial LPG cylinders will be more affected. The businesses of about 10,000 small restaurants and caterers in Ahmedabad will be affected. If supply is not received in the next two days, hotels and restaurants may close, rendering thousands of people jobless.
Hotel operators are worried that a Covid-like situation may arise if supply is not started at the earliest.
However, to avoid this, many hotel operators and small food shopkeepers have started finding ways to sustain. Hotel operators have decided to change the menu and make food that uses less gas. Items that use more gas to make food will be stopped.
