New Delhi: Defence Exports from India reached Rs. 23,622 crore (US$ 2.76 billion) in FY 2024-25 from just Rs.686 crore in 2013-14, the Ministry of Defence said in a press release. Exports have increased 12.04% from FY 2023-24, a growth of Rs.2,539 crore.
This rise has corresponded with an increase in the Nifty Defence Index to almost 400% in three years. After the Indo-Pak skirmish, the Nifty Defence Index has risen by nearly 44% in the last 3 months.
India’s Defence Public Sector Undertakings (DPSUs) have increased their exports by almost 42.85% in FY 2024-25 by collaborating with leading private parties, investing in R&D and aligning their products to meet new-age challenges, all in line with the government’s ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat’ initiative.
The government is also actively promoting defence manufacturing, with defence industrial corridors set up in UP and Tamil Nadu and the Production-Linked Incentives (PLI) scheme attracting interest from global defence manufacturers.
India’s defence exports have surged to a record high of Rs 23,622 crore in the FY 2024-25. An impressive growth of Rs 2,539 crore or 12.04% has been registered in the just-concluded FY over the defence exports figures of FY 2023-24, which were Rs 21,083 crore.
I congratulate…

Perhaps the biggest achievement is the export of the supersonic BrahMos missiles to the Philippines in 2022. Besides this, India exports Pinaka rocket launchers, offshore patrol vessels, Chetak helicopters, radars, ammunition and other equipment in the defence supply chain.
The government is targeting Rs. 50,000 crore in annual exports by 2030, even as it invites more foreign firms to Make in India using the PLI scheme.
