Hardeep Singh Puri Says Petrol, Diesel Prices Unchanged Despite Global War Concerns

Surat: Amid the worries among the netizens across the country that the prices of petrol and diesel would witness a steep rise following the completion of Assembly elections in West Bengal, Union Petroleum and Gas Minister Hardeep Singh Puri has made it clear that despite severe impact of the ongoing war between Iran-Israel-US, the petrol and diesel prices remain unchanged.

Puri, who was addressing the mammoth gathering at the Vibrant Gujarat Regional Conferece (VGRC)  2026 at Auro University in Surat said that such regional summits have become a model and motivation for other states before the Vibrant Gujarat Summit of 2027, adding that even amidst the increase in insurance costs, cargo delays and serious supply chain problems at the global level, India has remained safe under the strong leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri said that despite the global war, supply chain crisis, and tension in the Strait of Hormuz, the central government has saved the countrymen from the financial burden.

Puri stated that while there has been a huge jump in crude prices globally, there has been no increase in the retail prices of petrol and diesel in the country for the last 4 years. Referring to the situation in the neighbouring countries, he said that the western neighbour has increased the price of petrol by 42.7% and diesel by 54.09% in April.

Similarly, the neighbouring countries to the north and south have also seen a sharp increase in fuel prices ranging from 39% to 66%. While other markets in the world have witnessed situations like long queues, rationing and reduction in working hours, India has never allowed ‘panic’ to become its policy. There has been no shortage of any commodity in the Indian kitchen.
