Ahmedabad : Gujarat Council on Science and Technology (GUJCOST), Department of Science and Technology, Government of Gujarat, is organizing India’s Biggest Science Communication Conference on “Public Understanding of Quantum Science & Technology” at Gujarat Science City on 22-23rd December 2025.
GUJCOST is leading this two-day initiative to open the doors of quantum science – making it simple, engaging, and relevant for students, teachers, researchers, science communicators, and curious citizens.
GUJCOST is a proud Academic Institutional Partner to the United Nations (UN) for the International Year of Quantum Science & Technology 2025 (IYQST-2025) by UNESCO.
As part of the IYQ2025 celebrations, GUJCOST has conducted your-round programs and outreach activities on Quantum Science and Technology. With this Conference, the year-long IYQ2025 celebrations will conclude. This Conference is being organized in collaboration with International Year of Quantum Science & Technology (IYQ-2025), UNESCO and National Quantum Mission (NQM), Govt. of India.
The conference aims to create awareness and deepen public understanding of quantum science, highlighting its pivotal role in advancing fundamental knowledge of the physical world and its emerging
applications in sustainable energy, education, communication, and future technologies. The conference will be formally inaugurated by Mrs. P. Bharathi, IAS, Secretary, Department of Science and Technology, Government of Gujarat, in the presence of the Director, Physical Research Laboratory (PRL) at 10:00 am on 22nd December 2025.
The conference will witness the participation of nearly 200 scientists, researchers, educators, and students from across the country, along with foreign delegates, providing a unique national and international platform to explore the fascinating and transformative world of quantum science and technology. There are experts and panellists from United Kingdom (UK), Vietnam and Nepal who will be delivering key-note address during these two-days.
A special highlight of the conference will be an exclusive interactive session by the Hon’ble Minister of Science and Technology, Forest and Environment, and Climate Change, Government of Gujarat, Shri Arjunbhai Modhwadia on “Quantum Age: Our Collective Future” at 10:00 am on 23rd December 2025. The session will focus on India’s preparedness for the quantum era and the collective responsibility of policymakers, scientists, educators, and society in harnessing quantum technologies for inclusive and sustainable development.
During the Conference, there will be several key-note addresses and Planetary talks on the Quantum Science education, awareness, research and development. The young researchers will present their research work on Communicating Complex Quantum Concepts, Tools, Methods & Innovations in Quantum Science Communication.
Through this conference, GUJCOST reaffirms its commitment to science communication, public engagement, and capacity building, in alignment with national priorities and the vision of making advanced scientific knowledge accessible to all sections of society. The Conference is expected to inspire young minds, foster interdisciplinary dialogue, and strengthen India’s roadmap in quantum science and technology.
