Surat: After Sachin GIDC, now the Special Operation Group (SOG) has busted a factory making and selling adulterated ghee from Saurashtra Industrial Estate in Umra village of Mota Varachha. Soybean oil, vegetable fat and ghee worth a total of ₹12.03 lakhs were seized from this factory.
According to information received from SOG, Sub Inspector Dharmendrasinh Vaghela was on patrol with his team regarding elections. Meanwhile, it was reported that a person named Siddharth Himmatbhai Kathiriya, working in Jahal Enterprise, Saurashtra Industrial Estate near Matrix Global School in Umra, Velanja, is making adulterated ghee using vegetable ghee and essence and selling it as pure desi ghee.

Vaghela’s team had made a private investigation and confirmed it. Later, D.B. Makwana, an officer of the Food and Safety Department of Surat Municipal Corporation, was raided in Jahal Enterprise. From there, Siddharth Himmatbhai Kathiriya (resident, ground floor, Kuber Nagar, opposite Krishna Park, Seemada village, Surat) was found. A search was conducted in the factory or shed with Makwana, a native of Vakiya village in Amreli taluka.
In which 126 boxes of Willy’s refined soybean oil were found. In addition to 1890 liters of soybean oil worth Rs 3,02,400, 20 boxes of Hotel King vegetable fat were also found. 300 kg of vegetable fat was worth Rs 47,000. In addition, 306 boxes of vegetable fat called Sutra Vasabasta worth Rs 7,03,800 were found. 50 boxes of 15 kg of finished vegetable fat worth Rs 1.50 lakh were found, and a total of Rs 12,03,200 worth of goods were seized.
The preliminary investigation of Siddharth Kathiriya revealed that he was making ghee by adding some pure ghee and essence and coloring chemicals to this soybean oil and vegetable fat. He was selling this adulterated ghee in the name of Desi Shuddha. The municipal officials have taken samples of vegetable fat, adulterated ghee, soybean oil etc. and sent them to the laboratory for analysis. After the report comes, action will be taken against Siddharth Kathiriya.
