The National Testing Agency (NTA) on Friday announced the re-examination date for NEET-UG 2026 as June 21, giving over 22 lakh medical aspirants nationwide a new date to prepare for.
The cancellation of the original May 3 examination came just days after the agency suspended the test due to allegations of a paper leak, leaving students and parents uncertain about the admission process for undergraduate medical courses.
The NTA, in an official statement, released via its X handle, stated that the re-examination date has been finalized, with the approval of the Government of India.
The agency has announced that the re-examination of the NEET (UG) 2026 will be conducted on Sunday, 21 June 2026.

The earlier exam was formally canceled on May 12 due to concerns about its integrity. The development again highlighted the emerging threat to ensure security and transparency in large-scale competitive exams in India.
NEET-UG is one of the most important entrance exams conducted in the country, and is used to help with the admission process for MBBS, BDS, AYUSH and other undergraduate medical programs. This year, over 22 lakh students have, up to now, participated in the exams, leading to increased concern and anxiety among students and parents about minor disturbances.
The days leading up to the exam have been confusing for many aspirants due to revised timings, admit card issues, counseling timelines, and preparation strategies. Coaching institutes and students were waiting for clarity from the NTA regarding the type of re-exam and the timeline.

The allegations of paper leakage in NEET-UG 2026 have also sparked discussions about examination security, digital supervision, and accountability in national-level entrance exams. In recent years, there have been several allegations of irregularities in various competitive exams across different fields, and the establishment of more robust safeguards and more expeditious investigations has been urged.
