New Delhi: Yogi Priyavrat Animesh has been involved in discussions surrounding water management and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), with a particular focus on how water is essential to sustainable development, peace, and human well-being.
During key summit forums and international conferences on water, the emphasis has been on water’s central role in achieving SDG 6, which ensures the availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation for all.
Yogi Priyavrat Animesh ji through his foundation Ooj has been working on energy channelisation processes and he uses various elements from nature for it, water being one of the key elements.
He has been aligning this with the broader international agenda, which calls for integrated water resource management to address issues such as climate change, disaster risk, food security, and equitable access to water and sanitation. These themes are reflected in documents like the “Dushanbe Declaration” that reiterate commitments to improving water access as a fundamental human right and accelerating progress toward SDG targets through collaborative action among nations.
His visit to Dubai is aimed at this collaborative discussion. Dubai hosted the United Nations Climate Change Conference COP 28. Water was a core theme at COP28 for the first time in 28 years, with water as a top priority for the conference.
Yogi Priyavrat Animesh is likely to meet and discuss with HE Dr Mohammad Saeed Al Kindi former Minister of Environment and Water, UAE, and share with him the need for enhanced data collection, partnerships across sectors, and prioritization of water services, especially in vulnerable communities to build resilience against future pandemics and crises.
In India, Yogi ji is actively working for water action, particularly in the fragile Himalayan riverine ecosystem. The OOJ Foundation is committed to the sustainability of water ecosystems worldwide. In that direction, after Dubai Yogi ji would participate in the forthcoming International River Congress, organized by SAIARD in Sri Lanka, in November 2024. The objectives would be to address the need for future awareness of natural water resources and watershed management, especially focusing on the South Asian region. It will be a platform to discuss and deliberate about River Basin Management, which is considered to be the hub where the livelihood of most of the communities is sustained.
