Rajeev Khandelwal explains why Gautam Adani wants a big business leader in every city

New Delhi: Actor and Vande Bharatam host/brand ambassador Rajeev Khandelwal has expressed his views on the vision of Gautam Adani to make more successful entrepreneurs in India. Khandelwal also noted that Adani constantly emphasises on the point that there should not be just one Gautam Adani in India. Rather, the nation has the ability and skill to produce a powerful business leader in every town and city of the nation.

However, what was Khandelwal really saying?

Khandelwal says Gautam Adani’s motive is to get people all over the country involved in their own businesses, finding fresh ideas and opportunities to create jobs for others. This isn’t just about manufacturing billionaires. It’s the idea of locating talented people in various cities, and providing them with the proper assistance to make them into successful businesses.

The comments were made by Khandelwal during an interaction on the Vande Bharatam initiative, which he termed as a big movement for the innovators and to promote self-reliance. The programme highlights grassroots level ideas from all over India and provides the opportunity for the participants to refine their business ideas with the guidance of experienced mentors.

Reactions to the project were also far greater than anticipated. The event organizers had planned to receive approximately 15,000 entries but over 26,000 people came forward with their entries. The selected participants were then put through an intensive bootcamp session providing them with training and guidance and finally presenting their ideas to Industry leaders.

The procedure he experienced in the movie industry was quite different compared to the procedure he has followed here, said Khandelwal. This made him realize how much innovations and entrepreneurship can do to the country’s development when he saw them at the ground level, he said.

Involving business leaders was an important aspect of the programme. Khandelwal said that Gautam Adani and other senior executives talked with the participants, motivated them and helped put their minds at ease. The concepts explored included problems in the real world such as those that occur in farming and for individuals with disabilities. There were also significant numbers of women entrepreneurs.

A significant aspect here was that the Adani Group did not claim equity or ownership of the companies that it joined. Instead, the team concentrated on supporting the group. Some mentors indicated they were interested in the projects too and wanted to become business partners.

So, when Khandelwal says that he has a “big business leader” in every city, one could say that he is asking the Indian public to find and nurture the hidden entrepreneurial talent in India. What the message is, it’s the simplicity of it – India’s next big business success story does not necessarily have to come from a few big cities. In the hands of good guidance and opportunities, good business people can come from anywhere in the country.
