New Delhi: A serious controversy has emerged at a fertility clinic in Secunderabad, Hyderabad, after a couple filed a complaint alleging a critical violation during their IVF procedure. According to the couple, they had approached the private clinic for the IVF treatment with the explicit instructions that only the husband’s sperm be used. The procedure led to a successful pregnancy, and the women gave birth to a child.
However, several months after the birth, the child began suffering from persistent health issues and was later diagnosed with cancer. The couple, who insisted there was no history of such illness in their family, became concerned and suspicious about the origins of the child’s medical condition.
Their doubts deepened when the clinic failed to provide clear answers about the procedure. To confirm their suspicions, the couple arranged for a DNA test, which delivered a shocking result: the child was not biologically related to the husband. The test strongly indicated that sperm from an unknown donor had been used without their knowledge or consent.
Following this revelation, the couple filed a formal complaint with the Gopalpuram police station. Acting on the evidence provided, particularly the DNA report, the police registered a First Information Report (FIR) against the fertility centre. Subsequently, police teams conducted searches at the clinic premises on Saturday as part of the ongoing investigation.
A senior police official from Hyderabad confirmed that a formal inquiry is in progress and assured that additional details would be shared with the media soon. This case has raised serious concerns about procedural integrity, consent, and accountability within private fertility clinics, prompting broader public and legal scrutiny.
