Surat: To celebrate World Environment Day 2025 on June 5, well-known environmentalist and social worker Viral Desai, who is lovingly called the “Greenman”, will lead a special tree plantation drive across Surat and Navsari districts.
The week-long campaign will start soon and aims to plant 1,000 trees in seven different areas, including Maroli, Kadoli, Sarthana, and Sachin. This green mission once again shows Desai’s strong dedication to protecting nature and creating greener cities.
This year’s campaign is a tribute to the philosophy of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, as we celebrate his 150th birth anniversary,” said Viral Desai. “His message of unity, cleanliness, and love for nature continues to inspire us.
Viral Desai is also one of the most busy green warriors Gujarat has had. To date, he has planted over 6.5 lakh trees under his environmental missions. Satyagraha Against Pollution and Climate Change, his very popular movement, has reached out to over 2 lakh individuals, mostly students and youth, who now actively work towards raising awareness and protecting the environment.
With this renewed plantation drive, Desai is again urging people to act. He feels that each and every tree planted works towards making a cleaner, healthier, and stronger India.
As World Environment Day draws near, this campaign reminds us all that caring for our planet begins with small steps such as tree planting. Greenman’s initiative remains a source of inspiration for many nationwide.
