New Delhi: Samsung has cancelled its big global launch event for the Galaxy S25 Edge, which was going to happen on May 13 in New Delhi. As per a report, the company made this decision because of rising tensions between India and Pakistan. Due to security concerns, Samsung didn’t want to take any risks.
They had already sent out invitations to media and tech people, but now everything is on hold. Samsung hasn’t officially said anything yet about what will happen next. Sources say the company is waiting for instructions from their global team, and they might either postpone the event or do it online instead.
This cancellation shows how the current situation is affecting big companies. A senior official from other electronics brand said, “We are also thinking about our next steps and keeping a close eye on what’s happening.” It looks like other tech companies in India are also getting worried and making changes.
How companies are reacting
This isn’t just about Samsung, many multinational companies in India are also taking precautions. For example, companies like EY India and Deloitte told their employees to work from home on May 9 to keep them safe, some states like Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, Delhi, Gujarat, West Bengal, and Bihar have increased security, shut down schools, and told police and officers to stay ready. In some areas, there have even been power cuts and temporary blackouts to prepare for emergencies.
Right now, there’s no new date for the launch. People in the tech world were really excited about the Galaxy S25 Edge, so this news has disappointed many fans. If the situation between India and Pakistan doesn’t improve, Samsung might go for an online launch instead.
At the same time, many brands are also cutting down on their advertising. Experts say there could be a 5-10% drop in ad spending in the first half of 2025 because of all the uncertainty.
Tech industry feels the heat
Lots of tech companies are now letting employees work from home and avoiding non-important travel. However, religious travel like the Char Dham Yatra is still going on. Even the IPL has been affected by the situation.
Samsung cancelling such a major event shows how serious things have become. Fans will now have to wait a little longer to see the Galaxy S25 Edge. Hopefully, the situation improves soon and Samsung will announce new plans for the launch.
