New Delhi: Anant Maheshwari, president of Microsoft India, has left his post to pursue interests outside of Microsoft. His resignation comes amid a shake-up among the company’s top executives at the software behemoth.
“We can confirm that Anant has decided to leave Microsoft to pursue a role outside the company. We would like to thank Anant for his many contributions to our business and culture in India and wish him every success in his future endeavours,” a Microsoft spokesperson said.
Despite media reports claiming that Sashi Sreedharan, the MD, had been promoted to a more senior position and Irina Ghose, the business’s chief operating officer, had been named managing director of India, the company did not comment on the rumours.
Maheshwari was named the new chairperson for 2023-2024 by the organisation representing the IT industry, Nasscom, this year.
Maheshwari joined Microsoft in 2016 and was in charge of the company’s overall operations in India. He formerly worked with organisations like Honeywell and Mckinsey and Company.
Microsoft said in January of this year that it would be laying off approximately 10000 employees as part of its workforce reduction initiatives, which the business was doing in response to the macroeconomic environment and shifting consumer priorities.
