New Delhi: Home services platform Urban Company has reached a major milestone, reporting its first-ever profit of Rs.239.7 crore in FY25 as it gears up for its Rs.19,000 crore IPO. The Gurugram-based company posted a revenue of Rs.1,144.5 crore for FY25, a 38% rise from last year. According to various reports, the company has achieved its profitability due to a one-time tax gain of Rs.211 crore. Despite this, the company has achieved a 22.4% YoY growth in its revenue from operations. The company has been expanding its operations across India and even globally since its inception in 2014, offering all kinds of home-based services like cleaning, plumbing, appliance repairs and beauty treatments. It has also launched its own brand of water purifiers. Last year, it reported a Rs.93 cr loss.
According to its annual report, the company has seen a 20.4% increase in net transaction value at 2,667.2 cr, with almost 82% of its 6.5 million transacting users placing repeat orders.
Expected IPO plans
To start with, the company has converted to a public limited company named Urban Company Ltd in February 2025. Led by co-founder Abhiraj Singh Bhal, the company has filed its Draft Red Herring Prospectus (DHRP) with SEBI in April. It is expected to raise money through a combination of a fresh issue of shares along with an Offer For Sale (OFS) component.
Previously known as Urban Clap, the company is backed by marquee investors like Tiger Global, Prosus Ventures and Vy Capital. Unlike the intense competition in the food delivery sector between Swiggy and Zomato, Urban Company has a better chance of succeeding, even though emerging startups like Snabbit and Pronto threaten to challenge the company’s lead.
