SAP opens new 41-acre campus in Bangalore to house 15,000 employees

Bengaluru: German technology major SAP inaugurated its second campus in Bengaluru- the 41-acre SAP Labs India Innovation Park- at Devanahalli, close to the International Airport, on Tuesday. The campus was inaugurated by Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah with State IT Minister Priyank Kharge, German Ambassador to India Phillip Ackermann, Sindhu Gangadharan, MD of SAP Labs India and other dignitaries present.

This is SAP’s second campus in Bengaluru after its 22-acre Whitefield campus. Currently, more than 3,200 employees have already moved to the new campus, and 4,500 will be accommodated in the next few months. The entire development is aimed to be completed by Q3 of 2028.

“India is a strategically important market for us, evident from our decision to acquire such a large parcel of land and invest in long-term infrastructure development. The approval of future phases underscores our commitment to significant annual hiring. Together, our two campuses can accommodate up to 30,000 employees, which is a testament to our investment in the region,” Thomas Saueressig, Member of the Executive Board of SAP SE for Customer Services and Delivery, said at the event.

The campus will feature SAP’s second Experience Center in India, showcasing enterprise solutions in real-world scenarios for prospective customers. Besides Bengaluru, SAP also has offices in Gurugram, Hyderabad, Mumbai and Pune.

For global technology companies like SAP, India-based campuses have moved up the value chain from becoming low-cost outsourcing hubs or customer support destinations to handling core operations like R&D, Analytics, AI and Data Processing. These Global Capability Centres (GCCs) have become central to their parent organisation’s operations, with many housing large campuses that have made their Indian operations crucial in their global talent supply chains.
