Mumbai: Anil Ambani-led Reliance Infrastructure Ltd has revealed plans to step up its ammunition exports to Rs.3,000 crore by 2027. This year, the company exported Rs. 1,500 crore worth of large-calibre ammunition, and it aims to become one of the top three defence exporters from India.
The company has been allotted 1,000 acres in the Watad Industrial Area in Ratnagiri, Maharashtra. It plans to develop the Dhirubhai Ambani Defence City (DADC) here with an investment of Rs. 5,000 crore, making it the largest greenfield defence manufacturing plant in India.
The company aims to export its artillery ammunition primarily to the European Union, where there is a significant demand for restocking of artillery ammunition.
Recently, Reliance Defence also signed a strategic partnership with Dusseldorf, Germany-based Rheinmetall AG, for the supply of propellants and explosives. Both companies also aim to jointly market selected products and extend their cooperation based on future requirements.
The manufacturing facility at DADC aims to eventually produce 2,00,000 artillery shells, 2,000 tonnes of propellents and 10,000 tonnes of explosives.
Shares of Reliance Infrastructure were trading at Rs.345.10 at 10.45 am on Monday June 2, rising about 4% from last week. Reliance Infrastructure’s market cap has increased five-fold from Rs.700 crore in 2020 to Rs.13071 crore in 2025.
