With several billions of tons of waste filling landfills globally each year, society is becoming increasingly environment-conscious – from consuming more sustainably to reusing grocery bags.
But as more people continue to do their shopping online, several consumers are also becoming aware of product packaging. Thus, eco-friendly packaging is a necessity now. Here take a look at some of the eco-friendly and attractive alternatives.
Compostable food wrapping paper
Custom Food Wrapping Paper is a top example of a compostable food packaging material manufactured from FSC-certified paper. Even though this is uncoated, it is still food-safe and can be custom printed (using food-safe water-based inks) to make sure that your packaging is beautiful and on-brand.
Other alternatives are some kraft parchment paper (those not coated using silicone). Made from wood pulp and mostly lined to give it a non-stick surface. It could withstand high temperatures of 420-450 degrees F in the oven, so it’s perfect for lining cake pans and baking sheets.
Recycled Kraft Paper Takeout Bags
Recycled food packaging provides a new lease on life to materials that are already in circulation and restricts the need to collect new raw materials. Contrary to regular paper, kraft paper (also known as brown paper) is made from wood pulp. Being obtained from plant-based materials, it is eco-friendly, recyclable, and compostable. These are best paired along with a Custom Coated Sticker Label or compostable roll labels for a branded, professional appearance.
Recyclable Paper-Based Coasters
Custom recyclable coasters would be the perfect addition to your restaurant, bar, cafe, or events —assisting in keeping your surfaces clean while also displaying your branding. They are fully customizable, so you can display your seasonal designs, QR codes, or brand logo and even offer them to your customers as keepsakes.
Bagasse Packaging
This is manufactured from natural sugarcane fibers. Post the sugar is extracted from sugarcane plants, the leftovers are never disposed of, and instead, the material is utilized to make bagasse packaging.
The result is durable and eco-friendly boxes. The production procedure also utilizes much less energy compared to plastic. Bagasse containers are both biodegradable and compostable.
Bioplastics
Bioplastics are plastic packaging materials obtained from marine, plant life or material of biological origin other than petroleum. They are regarded as more environmentally friendly since their production needs lesser quantities of fossil fuels. The custom-folded takeout boxes, lined using polyethylene (PE) coating, are food safe and recyclable.
Recyclable Coated Greaseproof Paper
Options for butcher paper or wax paper are usually made from cellulose made from wood pulp. The paper is coated using an oil or fat-resistant substance to stop oil and grease from penetrating it. It makes them perfect for packaging fried foods, lining food baskets, etc.
These are all eco-friendly packaging options that can be used not just for the sake of our planet but they can also to enhance the looks of the products that will be present in these packaging alternatives.
