Mumbai: India’s largest hospitality chain, Indian Hotels Company Limited (IHCL) has announced the acquisition of 51% controlling stakes in two midscale hotel chains- Lucknow-based ANK Hotels Private Limited, and Jaipur-based Pride Hospitality Private Limited. ANK Hotels operates 67 hotels across India under the Clarks brand while Pride operates 24 hotels under the Pride banner. Collectively, both brands will add to the Tata Groups 390+ hotels under its various brands.
The Tata Group-backed firm will pay Rs.110 crore for its stake in ANK and Rs.94 crore for Pride Hospitality, with the deals expected to close by November 2025. Along with this, IHCL has also signed a marketing agreement with Brij Hospitality to manage its 19 hotels under the Brij brand across India.
Mr. Puneet Chhatwal, Managing Director & Chief Executive Officer, IHCL said, “India’s hospitality sector has witnessed sustained demand momentum over last three consecutive fiscal years, reflective of the country’s growing economic prominence and rising discretionary spends. The outlook for the sector remains buoyant as demand outpaces supply and India continues to be an under-served hospitality market especially in the mid-market segment. Our partnership with ANK, Pride and Brij Hospitality is a multi-pronged approach addressing India’s heterogenous market landscape and is in line with IHCL’s five-year road map ‘Accelerate 2030’ of unlocking India’s tourism potential.”
According to Brand Finance, a global brand valuation company, IHCL’s iconic Taj brand is the world’s strongest hotel brand. Besides this, IHCL also operates various brands catering to diverse clientele, Vivanta by Taj, SeleQtions, The Gateway and Ginger. The company’s shares have been under focus ever since it reported a 19% YoY rise in net profit for the first quarter of FY2026.
