HPCL enters into petrochemical industry

New Delhi: Hindustan Petroleum Corporation, a Maharatna oil company, announced on Thursday that it had entered the petrochemical industry through polymer marketing with the launch of the polymer brand — HP Durapol. 

In the presence of Managing Director and HPCL Chairman Push Kumar Joshi, along with other senior officials from the ministry Pankaj Jain, the Secretary for Petroleum and Natural Gas introduced the HPCL’s first polymer brand. They inaugurated the logo, brand, product brochure and package for the polymer products.  

According to the ministry of petroleum and natural gas statement, “HP Durapol would cover various grades of high-density polyethene, linear low-density polyethene and polypropylene. The company is planning to start the pre-marketing of polymers.” 

According to the announcement, this pre-marketing would be the precursor to the marketing of HPCL Rajasthan Refinery (HRRL) products. The statement claims that HRRL is a 9 million metric tonnes per annum (mmtpa) and 2.4 mmtpa petrochemicals integrated complex.
