New Delhi: Hindustan Construction Company (HCC) has won two major contracts from the Patna Metro Rail Corporation Ltd (PMRCL) to construct critical underground tunnels and stations for Phase I of the project. The two contracts, valued at ₹ 1,418 and ₹ 1,147 crores involves constructing 10.67km of underground tunnels.
For Package PC-05, the company will use Tunnel Boring Machines (TBMs), a cut and cover tunnel and an underground ramp at Mithapur, besides three metro stations- Vikas Bhavan, Vidyut Bhavan and Patna Station. Similarly, for Package PC-06, the company will construct an underground ramp at Rukanpura along with three metro stations- Rukanpura, Raja Bazar and Patna Zoo.
HCC has been pivotal in expanding India’s urban metro network, constructing major portions of the Bangalore Metro, Mumbai Metro, Delhi Metro and Kolkata Metro. The company has become India’s leading infrastructure player, developing roads, townships, power plants and railway projects.
Following the news, HCC’s shares jumped 2.5%, trading at ₹ 30 per share. The company’s consolidated net profit has soared 70% YoY to ₹ 38.6 crore with a corresponding 8% rise in revenue from operations to ₹ 1091 crores in Q1 FY26.
