Mumbai: A rather unknown company for a long time, Camlin Fine Sciences (CFS) has now emerged as a hot pick amongst investors, thanks to its unique positioning in the Western markets. The company produces food additives and fragrances, crucial ingredients for the food and cosmetic industries, and is now positioned to become a crucial supplier for the growing demand in the West.
The company has recently acquired Vinpai, a French ingredients technology firm, helping it expand its product portfolio. Besides this, the company has also acquired a controlling stake in Ningbo Wanglong Flavors & Fragrances Company Ltd. the world’s third largest vanillin producer in 2017.
Through its acquisitions, the company has gained a firm foothold in the global food additives market, which has been largely dependent on Chinese imports of vanillin- a crucial flavouring ingredient. Through its manufacturing facilities in India, China, Italy, Mexico, Brazil and the US, the company has developed the capacity to supply around 2.700T of vanillin by 2026, along with other food-grade chemicals to the overall market valued at $20 billion.
The company, currently valued at $490 million, earned a net profit of Rs.203 crore,with analysts expecting it to increase substantially especially as manufacturers look to replenish their stocks. The company’s shares are currently trading at Rs.219 on September 25, and have been on investors radar as they’ve risen almost 118% in the last one year.
