Zydus Lifesciences brings cancer risk assessment diagnostic test MyRisk® to India

Ahmedabad: Zydus Lifesciences has signed an exclusive agreement with US-based Myriad Genetics to bring its widely used MyRisk® cancer risk assessment diagnostic test to India. This risk assessment test helps healthcare providers to assess a patient’s hereditary cancer risk by screening their genomes to analyse key genetic variants that can cause breast, ovarian, colorectal or other cancers.

“This agreement marks a major step in expanding access to precision diagnostic tests for cancer treatment in India. The prostate and ovarian cancer tests help doctors with actionable insights to develop personalised treatment plans, predict disease progression, arrive at treatment decisions and streamline clinical workflows. We are also bringing a test which will help identify hereditary risks in patients and their families. Enabling access to these critical diagnostic tests will benefit patients in getting better clinical outcomes and support their fight against cancer.” Dr. Sharvil P. Patel, Managing Director, Zydus, said in a press release.

“This collaboration with Zydus is an important step forward in expanding precision oncology across India. Myriad tests aim to empower clinicians with actionable information to assess risk, understand tumour biology, and guide truly personalised care with greater clarity, confidence, and hope as they navigate critical health decisions.”  Brian Donnelly, Chief Commercial Officer for Myriad Genetics, added.

According to the agreement, Zydus Lifesciences will introduce Myriad’s MyChoice® HRD Plus, Homologous Recombination Deficiency (HRD) Test, and MyRisk® Hereditary Cancer Test to healthcare providers across India. These tests have already been widely adopted in the US and Europe, and will now help Indian oncologists to detect hereditary risks for cancer and help them chart a preventive diagnosis accordingly. The MyRisk® Test and its variants analyse 63 clinically significant genes that cover lung, pancreatic, melanoma, colorectal, endometrial, prostate, gastric, breast and ovarian cancers. It gives a  RiskScore® that combines genetic and clinical data to predict 5-year and lifetime breast cancer risk, enabling individualised screening and prevention plans.
