New Delhi: YouTube creators are unhappy after the platform introduced new monetisation rules that will reduce how much money they can make from videos. The creators, mostly small and medium-sized channels, say this will affect their ability to manage their expenses, equipment costs, and content quality.
The new rules change how YouTube counts watch time, ads, and viewer engagement before paying creators. For example, shorter videos could make less money compared to before. Videos with fewer comments or likes will also get lower ad value. YouTube says these changes are meant to reward high-quality content and reduce spam or low effort videos.
Yet, creators believe the rules are too strict. Many say they put in long hours to edit videos, write scripts, and shoot content. If their earnings drop, they may not be able to continue full-time content creation. Several YouTubers have already shared emotional posts online explaining how the update will affect their careers.
