New Delhi: About 600 people have been reportedly let go across India by PayPal as part of its restructuring program worldwide. These recent job cuts have impacted technology, engineering, payments, and finance employees across Chennai, Bengaluru, and Hyderabad. This announcement of job reductions are been estimated to impact about 10% of PayPal’s workforce in India, which numbers to over 6,000.
Why is PayPal cutting jobs?
The main driver of these recent job cuts is that the PayPal is seeking to cut costs and restructure. Earlier this year, PayPal has officially announced plans to rationalise its international operations, and it going to eliminate extraneous levels of management and enhance its team collaboration.
In April the company announced a new three-business structure and claimed that the changes were designed to be quicker to make decisions, more efficient to execute and help achieve long-term growth.
In May, Paypal has announced that it would be cutting across its workforce by 20%. PayPal has anticipates the restructuring will going to bring in at least $1.5 billion in gross annual savings when fully realized. This planned cutback would going to impact approximately 4,760 jobs worldwide, based on its workforce at the end of 2025, which is approximately 23,800.
What happened to employees in India?
