Mumbai: A consortium led by VA Tech WABAG has won a major contract to develop a sewage treatment plant in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) project comes with an initial treatment capacity of 100,000 m³/day, which will be extended to 250,000 m³/day.
The Saudi Water Partnership Company (SWPC) has awarded a bid to develop the Hadda Independent Sewage Treatment Plant (ISTP) to the consortium that also includes Etihad Water and Electricity Company PJSC, SkyBridge Limited Company and Metito Utilities Limited, under a 25-year Build, Own, Operate and Transfer (“BOOT”) contract. The scope includes designing, engineering, procurement and construction of the treatment facilities, using an advanced treated sewage effluent (TSE) reuse system, with a large storage tank and a 38-kilometre transmission pipeline.

In February 2025, the company won another Engineering and Procurement (EP) order for a 20 MLD Industrial Wastewater Treatment Plant in Saudi Arabia. WABAG has been present in the Middle East for decades, developing more than 6000 water treatment plants globally.
The company’s shares have appreciated by more than 524% in the last five years, despite the volatility witnessed during 2025. The shares were trading at Rs.1,292.50 in early trading on December 24, 2025.
