New Delhi: Siddharth Mallya, son of the fugitive businessman Vijay Mallya, is set to marry his long-time girlfriend, Jasmine, in London this week. Siddharth, who proposed to Jasmine in November 2023, announced the news on Instagram on June 18, sharing a joyful photo of the couple in a flower-adorned frame. The caption read, “Wedding week has commenced,” showing the couple embracing and smiling in celebration.
The proposal took place during Halloween last year, with Siddharth dressed as a pumpkin and Jasmine as a witch. He shared the memorable moment with his Instagram followers.
Despite the celebratory announcement, Siddharth’s Instagram post also drew attention to his father’s controversial history. While many offered their congratulations and expressed happiness for Siddharth, some comments referenced Vijay Mallya’s financial scandals. One user commented, “Pessa dedo bhai hamara,” alluding to the unpaid loans, while others praised Siddharth for his openness about his personal struggles.
Messages of congratulations included sentiments like, “So happy for you, Sid. Started admiring you since you opened up with your struggles. So much love,” and “Looking great, wish you a very happy married life.”
Vijay Mallya, formerly the owner of Kingfisher Airlines and the IPL team Royal Challengers Bangalore, fled to the UK after defaulting on $1.1 billion in loans from 17 Indian banks. He is currently under investigation by several agencies, including the Income Tax Department and the Central Bureau of Investigation, for financial fraud and money laundering.
