Mumbai, September 04: Major ride-hailing apps Ola, Rapido and Uber could face an existential crises in Maharashtra after failing to secure mandatory operating licenses from the Maharashtra government by the September 1, 2026 deadline. This non-compliance could affect major markets in the state- including the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) and Pune.
Under the state’s newly implemented aggregator policy, these platforms must meet a set of safety, driver welfare, and operational standards to maintain their permits. Given that the deadline has now been missed, the companies are vulnerable to service suspensions or total bans within the state.
