New Delhi: India is also experiencing a tough start up year with over 11,223 businesses having been closed down in 2025. Experts state that it is the largest number of closures in the recent years. There are numerous cases of startups that started with high expectations and now they are closed because of financial issues and difficult competition.
A majority of the shut down startups were small and medium-sized. They had difficulties when acquiring investors and customers. Some of the primary causes of their failure include high costs and low revenue as well as poor planning. Analysts believe that the culture of startups still exists in India, but only startups that have good business models make it.
The government has been making efforts to assist in the startups through the government policies and funding but it appears that most companies are not capable to adjust to the 2025 challenges. Slowdown of the world market, increased costs and stringent regulations have made these businesses to survive more difficult.
