Kolkata, August 22: Passenger and freight rail manufacturer Titagarh Rail Systems Limited (TRSL) has commissioned a new Design and Operations Centre at its manufacturing plant in Uttarpara, Hooghly district, West Bengal.

Inaugurated by West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari, the facility is aimed at strengthening the company’s engineering, product development, and design-led innovation capabilities. The new unit will primarily support Titagarh’s expanding portfolio of high-speed trainsets, Vande Bharat sleeper platforms, metro coaches, and propulsion systems.

For Titagarh, this new facility is aimed at strengthening its commitment to ‘Make In India, for the World’ as the centre aims to support Titagarh’s execution for its key rolling stock orders, including orders for the Vande Bharat sleeper trainsets and metro car production for Bengaluru, Ahmedabad and Surat.

“We are encouraged by the renewed focus of the Government of West Bengal on accelerating Bengal’s industrial and economic growth. The vision of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji for a Viksit Bharat, with its emphasis on Make in India and Atmanirbhar Bharat, aligns strongly with Titagarh’s commitment to building advanced manufacturing and engineering capabilities in Bengal for India and the world.
