Thomas Cook partners with Blinkit for Forex card home deliveries. Is Quick Commerce now the primary B2C touchpoint?

Mumbai: Thomas Cook (India) has announced a partnership with Blinkit to deliver its range of forex cards in minutes. The holiday services company aims to offer Thomas Cook’s Borderless Travel Cards (for leisure travellers) and Study Buddy cards (for students) through this initiative. This service is currently available across three metros- Delhi, Bengaluru and Mumbai, and will be rolled out across the country in a phased manner.

“Our constant focus is on anticipating evolving consumer behaviour and driving industry-first solutions that deliver true value. Quick commerce is reshaping customer expectations across categories, and we saw a clear opportunity to integrate this into foreign exchange, which has become essential for international travel,” Mr. Deepesh Varma, Executive Vice President – Foreign Exchange, Thomas Cook (India) Limited, said in a press release to the bourses.

“By offering our blank forex cards via Blinkit, our trusted distribution partner, we are not only enhancing convenience but also redefining travel readiness — enabling customers to be fully equipped within minutes, right at their doorstep,” he added.

With this, Thomas Cook joins other B2C brands like Boldfit, (fitness), Himalaya Herbal (over-the-counter wellness products), Havells (home appliances) and Fabindia (ethnic wear apparel), which are now selling their products through Blinkit.

Quick commerce is slowly emerging as the latest battleground in the quest to capture market share, with convenience-driven purchases ruling the roost. In 2024-25, Indians spent almost Rs.64,000 crore on quick commerce, with experts predicting it to reach almost Rs.2 lakh crore by 2028.

Though quick commerce was designed to replace your neighbourhood kirana, it has now become much more than that, as long as it doesn’t need much customization. Eventually, it could replace e-commerce giants like Amazon and Flipkart, even as Amazon and Flipkart are also venturing into the space, with Amazon Now and Flipkart Minutes.
